The Medical Secretary will provide an efficient administration service to support the medical secretary team. The role will involve working closely with administrative, secretarial, nursing and medical colleagues to provide a comprehensive secretarial support service. The post holder will undertake audio typing of clinical letters, discharge summaries and other annotations, medical records handling, filing and other administrative tasks.
You will have good attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills. You must be able to work as part of a team as well as independently, using your initiative to contribute to the smooth running of this busy area. The post holder must manage their workload efficiently and effectively.
Previous medical administration experience would be advantageous, but is not essential. Experience of working in a busy office environment is desirable.
Main Duties
To support the coordination of the administration arrangements to provide a high-quality supportive secretarial service to the consultant, medical and nursing team.
To work independently and be accountable for organising/prioritising own workload to ensure deadlines are achieved and to support the facilitation of the patients along a defined pathway.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Person Specification
* Qualifications
* NVQ Business Administration L3 or equivalent experience.
* RSA / OCR level 2 or equivalent experience (must be a proficient user of Microsoft Word).
* Desirable Qualifications
* AMSPAR – City & Guilds L3.
* NVQ Customer Service L3.
* Experience
* Knowledge of a range of administrative processes.
* Experience of working in a busy office environment.
* Desirable Experience
* Experience of working within the NHS.
* Skills
* Competently communicates professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing.
