Senior Hydrographic Surveyor Opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and experienced hydrographic surveyor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydrography, marine geography, or a related field.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of roles within the company, including vessel mobilizations, survey equipment installation, interfacing, calibration, and verification. They will also plan and undertake hydrographic surveys, calibrate and maintain survey equipment, develop and document survey procedures, process and chart large area bathymetric datasets, and compile concise and accurate survey reports for clients.
In addition, the graduate surveyor will assist project managers in the running of survey projects, both large and small, and research new technologies to keep us at the forefront of the industry.
* Vessel Mobilisations: Assisting with vessel mobilisations, including survey equipment installation, interfacing, calibration, and verification.
* Hydrographic Surveys: Planning and undertaking hydrographic surveys to ensure high-quality data is collected.
* Survey Equipment Maintenance: Calibrating and maintaining survey equipment to ensure it is in good working order.
* Survey Procedures Development: Developing and documenting survey procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
* Data Processing: Processing and charting large area bathymetric datasets to provide valuable insights.
* Report Compilation: Compiling concise and accurate survey reports for clients.
* Project Support: Assisting project managers in the running of survey projects, including coordinating logistics and ensuring timely delivery.
The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, at least 3 years' experience in the offshore surveying industry, and a strong understanding of hydrographic multibeam systems, motion reference units, side scan sonar, and magnetometer systems.
The ideal candidate will also have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work unsupervised and take initiative when required. A full valid UK driving licence is also essential.
Key Qualifications and Skills:
* Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject such as Hydrography, Marine Geography, Marine Sciences, or a related field.
* At least 3 years' experience in the offshore surveying industry.
* Working knowledge of hydrographic multibeam systems, motion reference units, side scan sonar, and magnetometer systems.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work unsupervised and take initiative when required.
* A full valid UK driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
* Project management experience.
* Previous work experience of using hydrographic software such as QINSy, Teledyne PDS, or Caris HIPS & SIPS.
* Knowledge of hydrographic survey planning and reporting.
* Experience with creating charts using QGIS and ArcGIS.
* Experience with a scripting language such as Python.
