The Senior Test Analyst is responsible for creating test cases based on in-depth technical analysis of both functional and non-functional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability, and portability). They create traceability records linking test cases to requirements, produce automated and manual test scripts, materials, and regression test packs to test new and amended software or services.
This role involves specifying requirements for environment, data, resources, and tools, interpreting, executing, and documenting complex test scripts, and maintaining a defect register. The Senior Test Analyst reviews test results, modifies tests as necessary, and reports on progress, anomalies, risks, and issues. They also provide system quality metrics and guidance to support others, review requirements, define test conditions, and mentor junior team members.
About the role
* Analyze functional and non-functional specifications to determine test requirements.
* Experience with automated test tools.
* Identify gaps in information and resolve them.
* Specify requirements for environment, data, resources, and tools.
* Plan, estimate, and schedule phase tests, including early life cycle validation and verification.
* Design and produce reusable test scripts, including automated scripts and regression packs.
* Interpret and execute complex test scripts, monitor progress, and document results.
* Use diagnostic tools and documentation to identify and report system errors.
* Review test results, produce quality reports, and metrics.
* Guide and assist colleagues in test planning and execution.
* Test non-functional aspects of systems at a high level.
* Prioritize tasks and mentor team members.
* Deputize for Lead Test Analyst and maintain knowledge of specific specialisms.
About you
* Experience with automated testing tools such as Cucumber/WebDriver IO, Playwright, Postman, or ReadyAPI.
* Strong analytical skills to break down problems and identify solutions.
* Influence skills to determine where automation adds value.
* Knowledge of testing techniques for functional and non-functional components.
* Familiarity with testing tools across the testing lifecycle.
* Experience with applications, processes, or products that benefit testing teams.
* Specialist knowledge in business functions, technology, or automation tools.
* Ability to identify information gaps and resolve them.
* Ability to meet targets under adverse circumstances and work collaboratively.
* Proactive attitude and ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
