Are you passionate about supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of young people? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and motivated Mental Health Worker to join our Education Services team, working in partnership with the Kennet Valley Academy Trust to deliver the Mental Health Support Team pilot. About The Role As a Mental Health Worker, you will be part of a pioneering initiative aimed at providing early intervention and support to students facing mental health challenges. Reporting to the Emotional Health Academy Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Academy Trust, schools, and other professionals to deliver high-quality care and support to young people. Your Key Responsibilities Will Include Delivering evidence-based interventions to students at the Kennet Valley Resource Base, with mild to moderate mental health issues Providing advice, guidance, and support to school staff and parents/carers Conducting needs assessments and monitoring the progress of individuals receiving support Collaborating with external agencies and services to ensure comprehensive care Participating in training and awareness sessions for school staff This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of mental health support within the education sector, making a real difference to the lives of young people. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: Experience working in a mental health support role, ideally within an educational setting Sound knowledge of common mental health issues affecting young people Ability to deliver evidence-based interventions and provide appropriate advice Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a diverse caseload Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners A relevant qualification in mental health, psychology, or a related field is desirable.
