Key Responsibilities:
Manufacture and modify components using manual precision machining techniques (lathe, mill, horizontal borer, etc.).
Produce prototype parts, one-off pieces, and small batches to exacting standards.
Modify existing parts (e.g., engine components) using various tools and techniques.
Collaborate closely with internal customers and team members to meet project requirements.
Work independently and adapt quickly to new tasks, challenges, and timelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Nationally recognised qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Engineering Apprenticeship, BTEC National Certificate).
Practical experience with manual machining techniques, including operating lathes, mills, borers, drilling machines, etc.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
Proficiency in using hand measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, vernier calipers, clocks).
Strong attention to detail, methodical approach, and ability to think critically when solving problems.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and occasional non-standard working hours.
Desirable Skills:
Experience in fields such as engine building, vehicle maintenance, or instrumentation.
Proficiency in PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
