Independent Living Assessor
Location: Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
Pay Rate: £20 – £23 per hour

We are currently recruiting an Independent Living Assessor to join the Adult Social Care – Assessment Services team within the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. This is a fantastic opportunity to support residents to live independently and safely in their own homes through timely assessments, equipment provision, and personalised support.
The Role
You will work closely with social work and occupational therapy teams to assess non-complex needs, arrange community equipment and minor adaptations, and promote independence and wellbeing for adults across the borough.
Key Responsibilities

Undertake timely assessments, re-assessments and reviews for adults with non-complex needs
*
Assess eligibility and arrange community equipment, minor adaptations and services safely and efficiently
*
Advise service users, carers and families on managing daily living using equipment, techniques, reablement, home care and direct payments
*
Identify when cases require referral to qualified health or social care professionals
*
Work collaboratively with statutory, voluntary and partner agencies
*
Participate in duty services and placements across assessment disciplines
*
Ensure service users and carers are involved in monitoring and evaluating services
*
Maintain accurate electronic records using IT systems (e.g. SharePoint, Excel, internal case recording systems)
*
Work in line with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements
*
Contribute to service development, knowledge sharing and induction of new staff
Essential Requirements
*
Experience working with Adult Social Care service users
*
Knowledge of issues affecting adults requiring social care and community equipment
*
Experience completing assessments and arranging follow-on services, equipment or adaptations
*
Strong understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. NHS & Community Care Act, Health & Safety, duty of care)
*
Excellent communication skills, including advising and instructing service users and carers
*
Confident using electronic recording systems with high-quality, accurate record keeping
*
Strong organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
*
Solution-focused approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Arrangements
This role offers hybrid working, with flexibility between office-based and remote working. You may be required to work across boroughs under tri-borough arrangements (Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, and Hammersmith & Fulham)
