Job Description
Williams Heritage is where the history of Williams Racing is kept alive. The team restores and maintains legendary Formula 1 cars, some dating back nearly 50 years, using original parts and handwritten notes like those from 1977 and Mario Andretti’s green sheet from Las Vegas. With over 150 years of combined experience, the engineers and mechanics make sure these cars are race-ready for historic events and private ownership. It’s a place where engineering meets passion, and the past is brought back to life on and off the track.
Kindly note that this position within the Heritage team is based in Witney, Oxfordshire.
Heritage Graduate
We’re looking for passionate Mechanical Engineering graduates to join us on our journey, supporting the Heritage Engineering team in the design and development of components and assemblies for historic Formula 1 cars. You’ll work closely with the Chief Engineer and car build departments to assess recommissioning and servicing needs, identify components requiring re-engineering, and create designs that meet F1 heritage standards. From initial concept through to manufacture, sub-assembly, testing, and final installation, you’ll be involved in the full product lifecycle. To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a collaborative team player with a proactive attitude and a keen eye for detail.
Shape the Future
* Join Williams Heritage, where the legacy of Formula 1 is kept alive through the restoration and recommissioning of iconic race cars some dating back over 45 years.
* Gain hands-on experience in re-engineering components and assemblies using original notes, drawings, and systems like Teamcenter and NX, while learning from a team with over 150 years of combined experience.
* Learn the full product lifecycle from design and calculations to manufacture, testing, and final assembly while contributing to the preservation of motorsport history.
Make Real Impact
* Work closely with the Chief Engineer and car build departments to assess service needs, identify components for re-design, and ensure race-readiness for heritage events and commercial activations.
* Apply technical skills in mechanical design, stiffness calculations, and drawing creation, while learning how to maintain authenticity in every engineering decision.
* Support the delivery of heritage cars for client engagements, sponsor events, and private ownership, directly influencing brand image and commercial success.
Find Your Place
* This role is ideal if you have recently graduated in mechanical engineering and looking to start your career in design.
* Join a close-knit, passionate team that values technical excellence, curiosity, and a genuine love for engineering. You'll build strong cross-functional relationships, attend team meetings, and gain mentorship from experts in suspension, control systems, and heritage mechanics.
* Discover your strengths in a unique environment where engineering meets legacy and find your place in a team that brings the past to life on and off the track.
