We are looking for an energetic, passionate EVENT MANAGER to work on our ACTIVE events portfolio.
This role sits at the heart of our active events portfolio, spanning everything from closed-road half marathons to multi-day European cycling challenges. We’re looking for an experienced Event Manager to take ownership of a range of key client and owned events, delivering exceptional experiences from initial planning through to on-the-day execution.
As part of the Operations Team, you’ll lead the planning, logistics and client liaison for multiple events across the year, ensuring every detail is meticulously managed. You’ll also play a key role in supporting our larger mass-participation events, contributing to the continued success and growth of our expanding portfolio.
This is a diverse role offering a balance between mass-participation events and bespoke challenge experiences, ideal for someone who thrives on variety and is motivated by delivering memorable, high quality live events.
You’ll be supported by the Operations Director and work closely with our talented internal teams and trusted freelance network. We’re looking for someone who brings fresh ideas, energy and initiative, someone eager to take ownership, drive standards, and help shape the future of WMP’s active events.
At WMP Creative, we value creativity, collaboration and attention to detail. This is an opportunity to make your mark within a passionate, growing team and to play a key role in delivering some of the UK’s most engaging live events.
THE ROLE
As Event Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the smooth planning and delivery of a range of client and owned events — from UK mass-participation runs to international multi-day rides.
Your work will combine creativity, logistics, and hands-on delivery to ensure every event runs seamlessly from concept to completion.
Key responsibilities include:
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients, managing relationships and communications.
• Developing and managing event budgets.
• Contributing to brainstorming sessions and idea generation for new concepts and event improvements.
• Liaising with and booking suppliers, staff, venues and contractors.
• Producing and maintaining detailed event running orders, production schedules and timelines.
• Creating operational content for event management plans and key documentation.
• Ordering, tracking and managing event collateral such as branding, medals, t-shirts and signage.
• Preparing rooming lists, ferry manifests and managing relationships with travel and accommodation providers.
• Planning event vehicle movements and producing logistics schedules.
• Writing event manuals, staff briefing notes and delivery documentation.
• Leading on-site event delivery, ensuring high operational standards and a positive participant experience.
THE PERSON
We’re looking for someone who combines meticulous organisation with creative flair — a natural problem-solver who thrives in live event environments and enjoys working as part of a close- knit, supportive team.
You’ll bring:
• A genuine passion for live events and event production, ideally within the mass- participation or sporting sector.
• Proven experience managing and supporting complex events.
• An understanding of the charity and corporate event landscape.
• A creative mindset with the ability to generate and develop original ideas.
• Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
• Calmness and clear decision-making under pressure.
• Strong self-motivation and initiative, balanced with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
• A positive, proactive and solutions-focused attitude.
• A sense of fun and enthusiasm that contributes to a great team culture.
