Responsibilities
* Process and determine licence/permit/registration applications handled by the Licensing Section of the Shared Regulatory Services, and perform relevant administrative and clerical functions.
* Assess the suitability of applicants to hold licences, ensuring public protection.
* Respond to routine written, telephone, and face-to-face requests for advice and guidance, including handling more complex cases as assigned by the Senior Licensing Officer.
* Manage payments related to applications, issue receipts, and record transactions following financial rules and procedures.
* Oversee the input of information into computer-based and paper systems using appropriate software within the Licensing Section.
* Provide guidance and training to staff as required.
* Stay updated on relevant licensing legislation, guidance, processes, and procedures; update licensing documents and databases as needed.
* Compile and present statistical data related to licensing performance and support service improvement initiatives.
* Handle incoming and outgoing post for the section, ensuring proper allocation.
* Coordinate activities related to Knowledge Tests for prospective Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Vehicle Drivers, including acting as invigilator and marking scripts.
* Maintain personal and professional development to adapt to changing job requirements and participate in relevant training.
* Participate in out-of-hours and emergency response arrangements as directed.
