Overview

We’re looking for a Welcome Manager to work across outdoor sites in the Lake District. You will primarily be based at Wray Castle (LA22 0JA), and will help our teams across outdoor sites create experiences that drive visitor growth and repeat visits. This will include developing waymarked routes, outdoor trails and visitor itineraries.

This role is based on annualised hours, with the number of hours per month varying, but salary paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. Regular weekend working and working during school holidays are a requirement. The arrangement could be negotiable if you need to work the same hours each week. A full driving licence is required as you will drive to different sites as part of your working day. What it’s like to work here

You’ll be part of the Lakes and Eden Property Group, bringing together the National Trust’s built and designed heritage across Lake District landscapes. Roles include work at sites such as Aira Force, Tarn Hows, Beatrix Potter’s Hilltop and more. You’ll be based at Wray Castle (LA22 0JA) with requirement to work at other National Trust sites in the Lake District as needed by the role.


What you'll be doing

* Lead the development of the visitor experience in the outdoors, focusing on Wray, Tarn Hows, Aira Force, Acorn Bank and other visitor places (permissive paths, car parks and popular walks).
* Provide duty management cover for Wray as part of a rota.
* Contribute to creating a positive, inclusive, collaborative work environment aligned with the Trust’s strategy.
* Work closely with cross-departmental colleagues to lead staff and volunteers to deliver excellent visitor service, presentation standards and conservation standards.
* Liaise with contractors when working with Site Managers, Facilities Managers and other Welcome Managers.
* Share responsibility for key performance indicators (KPIs) across membership recruitment, visitor satisfaction and fundraising.
