About the Role As a Design & Technology ECT, you will teach DT across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, following well-structured schemes of work that offer both guidance and flexibility for your own teaching style. The DT department is known for delivering practical, engaging lessons that encourage students to experiment, evaluate, and take ownership of their design process. Your responsibilities will include: Delivering well-planned DT lessons across KS3–KS4 Preparing and assessing classwork, practical tasks, and coursework components Engaging students in a variety of mediums including CAD/CAM, woodworking, 3D printing, computer drafting, electronics, and product design Maintaining high standards of classroom management, teamwork, and health & safety procedures Working collaboratively with an experienced team of DT teachers and technicians Contributing to department development, exhibitions, and enrichment opportunities ECTs in this school benefit from protected induction time, weekly mentor sessions, regular observations with constructive feedback, department planning support, and opportunities to shadow experienced teachers across subjects if beneficial.
