My client are a leading designer and manufacturing of injection moulded products for the UK and European markets. For the last 60 years, this business has been at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and manufacturing processes within their sector and supply several brands recognised across the world.
As a privately owned business, they have a proud record of enhancing and developing their staff through training and have promoted many individuals through the system to the roles they sit in today. As Senior Buyer, you will manage all aspects of the purchasing process, ensuring the best possible pricing and availability of products for the production teams, as well as working with suppliers to continuously improve the commerciality and profitability of the process.
Your main job purposes will include, but not be limited to
* Developing sourcing strategies to ensure cost effective purchasing of raw materials, master batches, recycled materials and production consumables ensuring payment terms are most appropriate and advantageous to the business and in order to meet the needs of production.
* To manage a process of factored goods ensuring stock levels are in place and suppliers are managed based on total lead times in order to support the requirements of the sales and production function.
* To source materials and components for NPI projects as and when required to support growth providing expertise procurement input for new project development.
* Source new products/suppliers as appropriate to support the commercial offering, ensuring the necessary criteria are met in respect of the production process and quality.
* To conduct a process of creating purchasing requirement based on the production plan for production materials and components through the use of requirement spreadsheets which are based on customer demand and the available stock. (All SAP warehouses) Thus giving a net demand for suppliers.
* To raise purchase orders for your responsible commodities and not limited to other commodities when covering absence of the buyer, ensuring these are signed off and issued to the relevant supplier.
* To ensure when raising purchase orders the correct parameters of lead time, minimum order quantity and price are correct in SAP before raising any order.
* To liaise with suppliers in respect of expediting deliveries from supplier to ensure delivery promise dates are met.
Ideally you will have 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role within the engineering or manufacturing sector and be able to demonstrate knowledge and a technical skill set at interview. A background or working knowledge of delivery against KPI’s based on cost, availability and supplier performance. CIPS qualifications are preferred, but a Business related qualification and relevant experience would be a relevant qualification as an alternative.
