Priory Hospital Cheadle – Consultant Psychiatrist (CAMHS Ward) Priory Hospital Cheadle is looking to recruit a consultant psychiatrist to join the team on our CAMHS ward. This is a full‑time role of 37.5 hours per week, set within picturesque landscaped gardens in Stockport.
What you’ll be doing You will be part of a compassionate team committed to patient wellbeing, taking a personalised approach using proven therapies. Your key duties will include:
Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and developing a therapeutic milieu.
Acting as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
Supervising the referral and admission process, contributing to pre‑admission assessments of young people with team members.
Providing a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.

What you’ll bring to the role We need a strong team player with resilience, empathy and a commitment to multidisciplinary assessment, formulation and management planning. Candidates must maintain current registration with the GMC, including inclusion on the relevant Specialist Register, and be prepared to provide evidence of this registration to the Hospital Director or Group Medical Officer if requested. Successful candidates will hold a CCST/CCT (or equivalent) in Psychiatry and have experience working in inpatient settings with individuals facing significant mental health challenges. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
