An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Occupational therapy technical instructor (OTTI) to support the work of the Occupational Therapists (OT) at HMP Pentonville. Pentonville is a large Category B remand prison serving the diverse population of North London.
The OT team are part of a broader health and wellbeing team comprising OT's, a speech and language therapist, psychology, primary care mental health, and substance misuse workers. The post offers opportunity to work with a broad spectrum of individuals with complex health and social care needs, including those with mental health and personality disorder, ADHD and autistic spectrum disorder, as well as those who have physical health needs.
Main duties of the job
There will be opportunity to provide input into a varied activity based group program as well as a psycho-education program. The OTTI will work alongside OTs to implement care plans as laid out by the OT team.
The post holder will be required to support the delivery of care currently in the form of New Models of Care, enabling the service to meet the London Wide service specification standards for Prison Healthcare.
The post holder will receive regular individual supervision to support their practice, as well as opportunities to engage in reflective practice groups. The team has a strong emphasis on support and training, with a regular internal program of training, as well as funding external providers for specialist needs.
The successful candidate will be contributing to the teams efforts to build back services following the pandemic, ensuring high quality mental health services to meet the needs of those in prison.

In order to meet the needs of the new Partnership services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Enfield and Harringay Trust and Camden and Islington Trust. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
* NVQ 3 equivalent experience and/or training.
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE
* Experience of motivating people to attend sessions or take part in activities.
* Experience of managing own time effectively to meet clinical and administrative tasks.
* Experience of planning and running therapeutic groups and sessions.
* Experience of relating to people from a range of social and ethnic backgrounds.
* Experience of being part of a multidisciplinary team.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
* Effective skills in a range of activities e.g. computing, cooking, crafts, exercise, music.
* Ability to sustain demands of working with potentially challenging client group
* Ability to problem solve within own work
* Ability to work as a team member, remaining adaptable to changing demands within the team
