Your Role...
Are you ready for the next step in your career? Eager to help deliver and grow our national programme of work? You will focus on delivering a range of infrastructure and flood risk management projects, leading hydrological contributions for clients, and mentoring hydrologists within our team. Your responsibilities include:
* Providing technical leadership for flood hydrology using UK-based methods (FEH, Statistical, ReFH, etc.) for complex studies
* Performing Quality Assurance and technical reviews of hydrology assessments
* Producing high-quality deliverables and presenting complex data visually and interpretively
* Collaborating on study approaches with the hydrology leadership team
* Mentoring less experienced hydrologists
* Developing bid proposals and innovative solutions
* Managing projects, finances, and stakeholder relationships
* Promoting a 'safety first' attitude in line with WSP policies
Although primarily UK-based, collaboration across WSP’s global teams is expected.
Your Team
You will be part of our national flood modelling team, supporting a broad portfolio including FCERM studies and infrastructure projects across various sectors. As an experienced hydrologist, you will contribute to the development of our hydrology team, oversee projects, promote high-quality services, and support sector innovation. Your role includes contributing to tenders and strengthening client relationships.
What We Are Looking For
* Strong understanding of UK hydrological techniques, including the Flood Estimation Handbook and recent updates
* Experience with UK statutory bodies' requirements (EA, SEPA, NRW, DfI)
* Commercial awareness and experience in business development and proposal writing
* Leadership skills in client engagement and project delivery
* Excellent communication, report-writing, and analytical skills
* Chartership with a relevant professional body or commitment to achieve it
