Responsibilities
* Undertake plan assessments, site inspections and enforcement work across a range of projects, from small domestic schemes to large commercial developments, subject to registration class.
* Respond to and manage issues relating to dangerous structures, unauthorised works and demolition activities.
* Participate in the Council’s out‑of‑hours emergency call‑out service.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered with RBI Class 2 or pending registration with the Building Safety Regulator.
* Working towards Chartered Membership, membership of the Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or an equivalent professional body.
* Experience in Building Control, with a strong understanding of Building Regulations, Approved Documents, allied legislation and enforcement procedures.
* Confidence in dealing with dangerous structures and implementing enforcement action when required.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Full, valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle for business use.

Full‑time role, within the Building Control Team of Northumberland County Council.
