About the Role Are you passionate about delivering high-quality library and archive services that support community wellbeing, learning, and cultural engagement? Bury Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead the operational delivery of its Libraries and Archives Service. This pivotal role supports the Service Manager in implementing strategic objectives, ensuring service excellence, and maintaining compliance across buildings and health and safety standards. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day operations, manage a diverse team, and contribute to the transformational development of the service in alignment with corporate priorities and the Universal Library Offers. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise the Libraries and Archives workforce. Support strategic planning and service transformation initiatives. Ensure Health & Safety and building compliance across sites Represent the service in meetings and on local/regional bodies. Manage budgets and contribute to funding bids and monitoring. Support partnership working across public, private, and voluntary sectors What we re looking for We re looking for someone with: Proven experience in operational management within a library, archive, or similar public service. Strong leadership and staff management skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Experience in partnership working across public, private, or voluntary sectors. Experience in managing projects and coordinating projects between different disciplines Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, and travel as required.
