Street Lighting Operative
Base location – Rochdale
Salary - £32,280 plus excellent benefits and career progression
Here's what you'll be doing
In this role, you will carry out duties working on the Oldham and Rochdale PFI Project, associated with the Annual Investment Programme and Change Notices issued by the Local Authority. Duties include working on the Public Highway carrying out excavations, backfilling, and reinstating column holes, joint bays, and all associated track works.
Main Responsibilities
* All civils aspects associated with street lighting installation works.
* Excavations in the Public Highway.
* The removal or decommissioning of assets as instructed.
* Work in connection with the installation of new assets.
* Work associated with Private Cable Networks.
* Work associated with DNO and iDNO connections.
* Hand digging for the installation of new and existing equipment.
* Reinstatements in line with HAUC regulations and Local Authority policies.
* The safe use and operation of tools, equipment, and vehicles associated with the role.
* The safe use of manual handling techniques.
* Providing support to skilled and specialist operatives.
* Working in a safe manner and in accordance with Company Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality policies and procedures.
* Complying with operational working practices and associated risk assessments.
* Taking full ownership of personal Health & Safety responsibilities.
* Co-operation with any training identified.
* Ensuring PPE is worn at all times.
What we need from you
* A current UK driving licence.
* Experience of hand digging.
* A high degree of manual dexterity.
* The ability to understand and carry out work instructions.
* The ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
* The ability to communicate with colleagues.
* The ability to interact with the public in a polite and courteous manner while carrying out work.
* Be flexible to work hours as identified by Supervisor to meet target deadlines.
It would be great if you have
* A current NRSWA qualification (see the craft matrix as detailed in the ES Agreement).
* Experience of reinstatement works in Highways.
* CSCS accreditation via the Highway Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS).
* Abrasive wheels.
* First aid at work.
