HR Advisor - 12‑Month Contract
Barrow‑in‑Furness, Cumbria (3 days onsite)
£31.94 ph UMB | £23.82 ph PAYE | Inside IR35
The Umbrella rate quoted is the gross rate paid to the umbrella company (inclusive of all employment costs). The amount you receive will be lower. Limited Deemed or Agency PAYE rates will also differ. Get in touch if you'd like to discuss pay routes in detail.
This role requires full SC clearance (including BPSS), UK work eligibility without sponsorship, and 5+ years' UK residency, with disclosure and reference checks completed before start.
The Role
We're looking for highly experienced HR Advisors to join the UK Case Coaching Team, providing expert guidance to managers on complex Employee Relations matters across the business.
You'll be based in Barrow, working a minimum of 3 days onsite, as part of a team of 20 specialist Case Coaches. This role is ideal for an ER professional with strong UK employment law knowledge, the ability to manage a high‑volume caseload, and confidence working with senior stakeholders.
With your technical expertise, you'll act as a trusted advisor, ensuring all cases are managed in line with company policy, the Acas Code of Practice, and current UK employment legislation, while balancing commercial priorities.
A CIPD Level 5 (or above) qualification and demonstrable experience managing complex HR cases is essential.
Key Responsibilities

* Coaching, advising and supporting line managers on complex and sensitive ER cases with high business risk
* Building strong relationships and ensuring stakeholders are informed at every stage
* Working proactively with managers, employees and representatives to resolve cases consistently and compliantly
* Providing balanced, legally compliant advice in line with policy to help manage risk
* Managing and updating ER cases accurately and in a timely manner, using the appropriate technology platform
* Challenging, influencing and developing managers to strengthen their ER capability and decision‑making
What BAE Systems Are Looking For
* Strong understanding of the Acas Code of Practice and current employment legislation
* Deep ER expertise, with experience handling high‑risk and complex cases
* Background in a unionised environment, working with a wide range of stakeholders
* Ability to problem‑solve and provide expert judgement across varied situations
* CIPD Level 5 (minimum)
