Head of Governance, Compliance and Information Governance – Clerk to the Corporation and Data Protection Officer – Part‑time, flexible working considered. Salary: £60,000–£65,000 (dependent on experience).
Bolton Sixth Form College is seeking an exceptional professional to lead and develop its governance, compliance and information governance functions. The successful candidate will provide independent advice and support to the Corporation, Chair of Governors and Principal, ensuring statutory, regulatory and compliance obligations are met.
Responsibilities
* Support the Corporation, Chair of Governors and Principal with effective governance and strategic decision‑making.
* Act as the College’s Data Protection Officer, overseeing Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests.
* Lead the complaints management arrangements and oversee investigation, appeals and complex casework processes.
* Oversee the policy management framework and ensure compliance with legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.
* Provide assurance of ongoing compliance with relevant governance, compliance, data‑protection and information‑governance frameworks.
Qualifications
* Significant experience supporting governing bodies, boards, trustees or directors.
* Authoritative knowledge of governance, compliance and regulatory matters.
* Strong understanding of data protection legislation, information governance and compliance frameworks.
* Experience managing complaints, investigations, appeals processes or complex casework with fairness, consistency and adherence to policy and legislative requirements.
* Highly organised, professional, able to work independently.
* Excellent organisational, communication and relationship‑building skills.
* Capacity to build strong relationships with governors, senior leaders and external stakeholders.
