Job Description

We are fully committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve. We welcome flexible working patterns for all our vacancies, including job share, so please include clearly any information regarding your preferred working arrangements on your application.

Responsibilities

* Conduct data quality audits to identify data quality issues and their underlying causes.
* Produce data quality reports and Power BI dashboards, and respond to data requests.
* Work closely with data experts to establish and implement efficient resolution processes, mainly by cross-referencing records and documents.
* Visualise workload and progress using PowerBI reporting.
* Collaborate with Water Quality regulation teams such as permitting, compliance, and reporting, and with the Regulatory Services Programme, to ensure regulations are underpinned by high‑quality data sets.
* Participate in incident response or business continuity support; an optional incident role may be available with additional pay and training.

Qualifications

* Degree level education or equivalent work experience.
* Demonstrable experience carrying out data quality checks, audits, or validation activities within structured datasets.
* Ability to investigate root causes of data quality issues and support actions to resolve them, rather than applying short‑term fixes.
* Proficient analytical skills, high attention to detail and a methodical approach.
* Strong communication skills to present data quality issues to a range of colleagues, including non‑technical users.
* Problem‑solving skills and the ability to balance data quality requirements with operational needs.
* Well organised, able to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
* Experience working with spreadsheets, databases, or business systems and familiarity with Power BI.

Location and Working Arrangements

Your base location will be any Environment Agency office. Remote working and meetings are the norm, but some national travel is expected.

The assessment process will be undertaken remotely in May.

Equal Opportunity Statement

We are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve and welcome flexible working patterns for all vacancies, including job share.
