Role Overview
This role is ideal for a Junior–Mid IT Administrator looking to grow their skills in a modern, engineering driven environment. You will provide day-to-day technical support, assist with system administration tasks, maintain end user devices, and help keep IT services running effectively. Complex or security sensitive tasks will be escalated to senior members of the team or specialist partners.
Responsibilities
* End User Support & Device Management – Provide 1st/2nd line support to staff across the organisation.
* End User Support & Device Management – Set up laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
* End User Support & Device Management – Perform onboarding and offboarding activities, including account setup and equipment preparation.
* End User Support & Device Management – Install, update, and configure standard software packages.
System Administration
* Assist with user account management in Microsoft Entra.
* Support basic administration of Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams).
* Perform routine system checks and report issues to senior staff.
* Apply software updates and patches following established procedures.
Network & Infrastructure Support
* Monitor basic network performance and escalate outages as required.
* Assist with troubleshooting connectivity issues (Wi-Fi, VPN, printers, shared drives).
* Support maintenance of local network equipment under guidance from senior colleagues or suppliers.
Security & Compliance
* Follow established security processes for identity, access, and device protection.
* Ensure antivirus and endpoint security tools are active and up to date.
* Escalate any suspicious activity, incidents, or compliance concerns.
Asset & Documentation Management
* Keep accurate inventory of laptops, peripherals, licences, and IT assets.
* Maintain documentation, guides, and user manuals.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues.
Required
Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience as an IT Administrator, Helpdesk Technician, or similar support role.
* Familiarity with Windows 10/11; basic exposure to Mac or Linux environments beneficial.
* Understanding of networks (LAN/WAN), Wi-Fi, VPNs, and general troubleshooting practices.
* Experience with Microsoft 365 administration (basic user and licence management).
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Clear, professional communication style.
Desirable
* Experience with Microsoft Entra
* Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure, M365 security features)
* Basic scripting knowledge (PowerShell)
* A degree in IT/Computer Science or relevant certifications (e.g., MCSA, CompTIA A+/Network+/Security+)
Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.
