The Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity is calling on game developers across Scotland and beyond to get creative for a wonderful cause with the launch of its first-everWeans Summer Game Jam.
This new summer-long competition challenges entrants to create a brand new videogame, which will be celebrated at a special showcase event in Glasgow this September.
The jam is being run by the charity’s‘Games For The Weans’programme, which provides invaluable support to children and young people by supplying games, consoles, and opportunities to play with someone while they are in hospital. The competition aims to channel the immense creativity of the games community into a positive and fun event that directly supports the charity’s work.
Running fromJune 3rd to August 31st, 2025, the game jam is open to everyone worldwide, from professional developers and seasoned hobbyists to students just starting their journey. Both solo creators and teams are welcome to participate.
The theme for this inaugural jam is“What matters to me,”offering a powerful and open-ended creative brief for developers to explore.
All entries that meet the submission criteria will be featured in an online gallery, and participants will be invited to display their creations at a physicalshowcase event in Glasgow in September 2025(exact date to be confirmed). This will be a fantastic opportunity for developers to present their work to the community and celebrate the creativity of the jam. Further details on prizes and the judging panel will be revealed by the organisers soon.
