Job Summary
Consultant Radiologist – North Cumbria (Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle or West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven). Position open to newly trained consultants and experienced consultants from all clinical radiology sub‑specialities. Successful applicants may be required to hold CCT or be in the first six months of its award.
Key Responsibilities
Provide a comprehensive, efficient and cost‑effective clinical radiology service across both sites. Duties include diagnostic imaging, teaching, audit, clinical governance and participation in on‑call/on‑out of hours cover.
Person Specification
Education & Qualifications (Essential)
* FRCR or equivalent
* Full GMC registration
* Inclusion on the Specialist Registrar Register (or within six months of inclusion)
* Holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award

* Higher degree
* Sub‑specialist training/fellowship
* Leadership and training experience
Experience & Knowledge (Essential)
* High standard clinical skill and expertise in clinical radiology
* Clinical governance and risk management
* Expert clinical opinion on a range of radiological problems (emergency, inpatient and elective)
* Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, managers and other staff
* Full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients

* ATLS
Management & Administrative (Essential)
* Advice on efficient and smooth running of radiology service
* Cover on‑call duties
* Organise and manage own workload efficiently

* Experience of audit management
Teaching (Essential)
* Commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff
* Ability to teach clinical and personal skills required for undergraduates and foundation trainees
