Job description
Challenge Packaging is a specialist in corrugated packaging design and manufacture. We work hard to ensure our cardboard box supply is as efficient as possible and extend that methodology into packaging supplies to offer a full service to our customers.
We have one vacancy for a Forklift Driver / Production Support working 48 hours per week (working hours are between the hours of 6:00 am and 4:45 pm, Monday to Thursday inclusive and between 6:00 am and 2:45 pm on a Friday inclusive, all days with a forty-five (45) minute unpaid lunch break).
Main duties
Forklift Inspection:
Conduct a thorough inspection of the forklift before use, ensuring it is in proper working condition. Document findings in the inspection logbook and sign off.
Check Production Schedule:
Review the production schedule to determine material handling requirements and prioritise tasks accordingly.
Loading and Material Handling:
* Ensure that production machines (FFGI, FFG3, RDI, DC5, YSF, TP6, ME2) are adequately loaded with the required materials.
* Move materials as instructed, ensuring optimal workflow in the production area.
Inspection Jobs:
Assist with any inspection jobs as required by the production team.
Communication:
* Maintain communication with the planning team via radio to stay updated on deliveries and any changes to the production to the production schedule.
Pallet Management:
* Ensure that pallets are available for operators at all machines for smooth operation.
* Move pallets to designated areas as needed. Remove broken pallets from the shop floor promptly.
Waste and Material Management:
* Ensure all waste boards and rejected materials are cleared from the shop floor and disposed of appropriately.
* Replace full bins with empty ones to maintain an organised workspace.
Support for Origination:
Provide support by bringing cutters and stereos to designated areas as required.
Yard and Bailer Room Maintenance:
* Maintain cleanliness in the yard, ensuring all waste boards and strapping materials are removed.
* Organise IBCs and barrels to be in their designated areas.
* Keep the bailer room clean and ensure that all waste bales are loaded into trailers.
End-of-Shift Duties:
At the end of the shift, remove all waste from the shop floor and dispose of it in the appropriate

* Reliable and committed with excellent time keeping skills.
* Ability to listen, learn and take instruction (written and verbal).
* Sound numeracy skills and able to use a PC to support loading and packing.
* Highly motivated and hard working.
