We're not looking for someone to simply process reports—we want a teammate who thrives on detail, accuracy, and collaboration, ensuring our payroll tax processes are seamless, compliant, and optimized for efficiency.
What You'll Own:
* Payroll Tax Accuracy: Audit, prepare, and reconcile employee- and company-level payroll tax data, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
* Reporting & Compliance: Review and create tax audit reports, reconcile payroll system data to tax reports, and prepare returns not managed by payroll providers.
* Exception Resolution: Research and resolve payroll system errors and exception reports related to on- and off-cycle payroll processing.
* Cross-Functional Support: Partner with HR, Benefits, and Accounting to ensure payroll and benefit policies are accurately executed and reflected in reporting.
* Workday Support: Participate in testing and implementation of Workday releases and maintain accuracy of employee changes including hires, updates, and terminations.
* General Ledger & Reconciliation: Prepare and balance general ledger entries for tax-related transactions and unclaimed property.
* Continuous Improvement: Support special projects and process enhancements that strengthen payroll tax compliance and efficiency.
What You Bring:
* 5+ years of multi-state payroll tax experience, with a strong understanding of federal, state and local tax regulations, including FICA FUTA, SUTA and income tax withholding.
* 3–5 years of payroll processing experience, with knowledge of payroll calculations, compensation taxing, and GL reconciliations.
* Hands-on experience in reconciling payroll tax accounts, preparing, and filing forms like 940s, 941s, W-2s and 1099s, and handling amendments and year-end reporting..
* Previous Workday experience preferred.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including intermediate-level Excel skills (formulas, pivots, VLOOKUP's, reconciliations).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner across functions.
* High attention to detail, with a methodical approach to compliance and process improvement.
* Self-motivated, ethical, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* Some college coursework preferred.
* Ability to research and interpret tax regulations, analyze complex issues and develop solutions
* Strong skill in investigating, analyzing, and responding to tax inquiries, agency notices, and audits.
