Job Summary
We are recruiting a Registered and/or Accredited Counsellor (Band 5, 6 or 7) to join the West Dorset Team. Applicants must be qualified in one of the NICE‑approved counselling modalities: Person‑Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE CfD), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) or Couples Therapy for Depression (CTfD). Band 5 requires a recognised Diploma in Counselling, registration with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and in‑training accreditation. Band 6 requires accreditation with a professional governing body (BACP/BPC/UKCP) and training in a NICE‑approved modality. Band 7 requires full accreditation, qualification and current practice in one of the NICE‑approved modalities.

Job Responsibilities
* Provide face‑to‑face, digital and telephone counselling, including occasional home visits and work with interpreters.
* Facilitate online or in‑person groups and deliver short‑term, time‑limited treatment.
* Maintain accurate administrative records and use IT systems effectively.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including one evening per week to meet service demand.
* Maintain self‑care and clinical judgement in a pressurised, target‑driven environment.
* Participate in local and national clinical supervision and professional development.
Essential Criteria
* Recognised Diploma or Degree in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, Psychotherapy or Counselling.
* Postgraduate qualification in one NICE‑approved modality (PCE CfD, IPT, DIT or CTfD).
* Registration or Accreditation with BACP, BPC or UKCP.
* In‑practice experience as a Counsellor.
* Competence in data entry and IT systems.
* Evidence of risk assessment skills for mental health and related pathology.
* Effective written and spoken English communication.
* Level 2 car driver; ability to use own car for official duties when required.
Desirable Criteria
* Further training in a recognised model of psychological therapy.
* Experience providing group facilitation, clinical supervision or working in an NHS Talking Therapy/Primary Care service.
* Experience with routine outcome monitoring in short‑term therapy.
* Experience delivering treatment for depression and related mental health difficulties.
* Ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
* Flexibility to meet patient care and service demands.
