TXM Recruit are working in partnership with a leading organisation within the rail freight and maintenance sector to recruit a Compliance, Quality & Safety Manager for their Stoke depot.
This is a key leadership position focused on driving continuous improvement, championing a strong safety culture, and ensuring full compliance across a busy maintenance environment. You will play a pivotal role in shaping operational standards, influencing workforce behaviours, and supporting the long-term success of the depot.
The Role
As Compliance, Quality & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality, and compliant operations across the site. You will lead from the front in developing a proactive safety culture, while overseeing audits, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will also support investigations, identify root causes, and implement preventative measures to ensure operational excellence and minimise risk.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development of a positive and proactive safety culture across the depot
Ensure compliance and maintain certifications in line with ISO 9001, 45001 & 14001
Manage and communicate Risk Assessments effectively to all staff
Oversee COSHH Assessments and liaise with Procurement regarding new products
Support incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are implemented
Produce detailed incident reports using internal systems
Manage and deliver the local audit plan
Ensure full adherence to the compliance matrix and safety standards
Deliver local inductions for contractors, new employees, and visitors
Line manage the site plant and maintenance team
Support wider business projects and continuous improvement initiativesWhat We’re Looking For
Experience managing processes and responding to unplanned events
Strong understanding of health, safety, and compliance within a maintenance environment
Experience auditing against ISO standards and accreditations
Ability to interpret audit findings and produce clear reports
Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
Proven experience delivering continuous improvement programmes (LEAN, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)
Experience implementing and rolling out changes to standardsQualifications & Accreditations
IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent)
Lead Auditor accreditation
IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management
Trained Risk Assessor
