A caring and inclusive secondary school in the SE2 area is seeking a compassionate and proactive Pastoral Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from January.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting students’ wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and personal development, and who enjoys working closely with young people to help them succeed both academically and socially.

The Role:

1. Providing pastoral support to students across KS3 and KS4

2. Supporting students with behaviour management, attendance, and engagement

3. Working with vulnerable students, including those with SEND or SEMH needs

4. Building positive, trusting relationships and acting as a key point of support

5. Assisting with safeguarding concerns and student wellbeing under guidance of senior staff

6. Liaising with teaching staff, pastoral leads, SENCo, and external agencies where appropriate

7. Supporting students in and out of the classroom, including during breaks

The Ideal Candidate Will:

8. Have experience working with children or young people in a pastoral, mentoring, or support role

9. Be empathetic, patient, and resilient

10. Have strong communication and interpersonal skills

11. Be organised, proactive, and able to work as part of a team

12. Be committed to safeguarding and promoting student welfare

13. Be available full time from January
