JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Kitchen Manager DEPARTMENT: Our Client LOCATION: Hull HU9
OVERVIEW: Our Client delivers facilities management services across multiple sectors including education. The organisation is committed to providing high-quality, value-driven and sustainable services.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To manage the school catering operation, ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, health & safety and financial control. The role involves leading and motivating a catering team while maintaining positive relationships with the client and students.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Food Service & Customer Experience * Manage daily catering operations and app-based ordering systems * Ensure menus, recipes, portion control and food presentation meet agreed standards * Maintain up-to-date allergy and dietary information * Monitor customer satisfaction and act on feedback * Minimise waste and maximise sales opportunities
People Management * Lead, motivate and manage catering staff in line with company policies * Support recruitment, induction and ongoing training of staff * Communicate effectively with the team and conduct performance reviews
Health & Safety & Compliance * Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety and hygiene legislation * Carry out risk assessments and ensure safe working practices * Act as Health & Safety lead within the catering operation * Ensure correct use and maintenance of equipment and PPE
Planning, Reporting & Finance * Maintain accurate records (sales, stock, training, timesheets) * Control labour, food and material costs within agreed budgets * Review performance and implement improvement plans
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: * Catering or food industry experience * Food Safety Level 3 (current) * Relevant health & safety qualification (e.g. IOSH) * Experience managing people and teams * Good IT skills, including cashless catering systems (e.g. Fusion) * Strong communication and organisational skills * Understanding of safeguarding requirements
