Intermediate/Senior Procurement Manager
Location: London / Reading (Hybrid – 2–3 days per week in-office)
Salary: £60,000 – £100,000 depending on level
Start Date: ASAP, subject to client approval
The brief:
We’re looking for an experienced procurement professional to support the delivery of a major public sector procurement. The focus is on ensuring the quality and compliance of documentation for NEC Professional Services Contracts, within a regulated environment.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working client-side, potentially embedded within the end client’s team, providing guidance and oversight on the preparation of procurement materials. This is a key role that will require a strong understanding of public sector procurement processes, NEC contract structures, and the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
What you'll be doing:
* Leading the review and quality control of procurement documentation
* Advising on procurement strategy and NEC compliance across large-scale works contracts
* Supporting the client team in preparing regulated procurement materials
* Liaising with legal, commercial, and technical stakeholders to ensure alignment
* Attending client offices in London or Reading 2–3 days per week, with flexible remote working for the remainder
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:
* Degree qualified in a construction-related discipline
* Professional membership (MRICS, MCIPS or equivalent)
* 5+ years’ experience leading multiple procurements of complex construction and infrastructure projects under Public Contract Regulations, from early market engagement to contract award
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality outcomes
* Strong understanding of delivery models, procurement routes, and commercial and contracting strategies aligned to client objectives and industry standards
* Experience engaging the supply chain to identify trends, assess appetite, and analyse opportunities and risks, with insights fed back to inform client decision-making
* A track record of identifying areas for improvement or innovation, and promoting best practice and lessons learned
* Practical experience across a range of standard forms of contract, including FIDIC and NEC
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
* Confident communicator with excellent presentation skills, able to influence stakeholders at all levels
* Previous experience within a consultancy environment or sound understanding of consultancy delivery models
* Proven ability to lead others, delegate tasks effectively, and maintain accountability for programme, budget, and quality
* A client-focused approach, with the ability to build trusted relationships, resolve issues, and deliver consistently high levels of service
* Business development experience desirable
* Enthusiastic about supporting and mentoring junior team members
