The role

* To deliver improved operational activities and maintenance within a geographical area for Leakage Detection Water Network Operations.
* To support the Leakage Optimisation Manager in the overall management of the area whilst also having direct line responsibility for the day-to-day operation of Water Network Leakage staff and Contract Leakage Detection staff in a geographical area.
* To ensure that their team operates in a cost efficient and effective manner to achieve the quality, performance and safety standards required by the company.


Key accountabilities

* To manage a team of field based Leakage Technicians
* Providing guidance and support whilst carrying out all elements of day to day management of the team
* To champion the highest standards of safety behaviour and accountable for the safety performance of their team (including inspections, maintenance of vehicles, tools, equipment and PPE)
* Accountable for engagement and performance management of a team, ensuring a highly skilled and engaged work force. Track team performance through data analysis and regular liaison with team
* Manage team resource availability for both in-day and out-of-hours activity and spend using the corporate MSS system
* Establish regular liaison with Leakage Analysts for the area
* Establish regular liaison with the Leakage Optimisation Manager to identify potential issues and needs and ensure delivery of maximum efficiency within area. Investigate options and initiate and manage/support improvement action
* Establish regular liaison with other Team Leaders and other internal and external peers to share best practice, consistently implement company policy and procedures and improve performance
* Undertake specific strategic projects or initiatives as directed by the Leakage Optimisation Manager
* To provide support to the Leakage Optimisation Manager
* Responsible for the recruitment, onboarding & training of Leakage Technicians for the team
* Support and establish the integration of total upstream analysis and reporting within the leakage team
* Accountable for technical overview and consistency in leakage detection activities and associated outputs within their allocated area
* Assist the Leakage Optimisation Manager in development of the annual operational budget for the area


Skills & experience

* Extensive and relevant experience in the roles relevant field or have demonstrated exceptional man-management/supervisory skills in another area of the business
* Proven relevant experience in water network
* A high level of technical knowledge is required to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory standards covering relevant Network assets and equipment
* An understanding of wider business issues across all levels of the Company's operation, particularly an awareness of the nature and effect of competition within the Utility sector
* Good analytical skills and the ability to identify, develop and drive through solutions to a wide range of technical and managerial problems
* Understanding of the regulatory and legislative framework surrounding Water Operations
* A proven track record of delivering improved productivity
