Reporting to the Head of the LIC UK Branch, this is an engaging and collaborative role leading the Oversight, Governance and Controls in respect to the 300 plus seconded underwriters from across the market supporting strategies and objectives whilst ensuing adherence to regulatory requirements. A brand new role, that you will have the opportunity to shape and deliver alongside the existing team with wide visibility across the market.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
* Lead the underwriting governance element of the UK Branch underwriting team, ensuring oversight of underwriting within the regulatory requirements
* Manage oversight within requirements of the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD).
* Manage, coordinate and report on oversight activity within UK Branch.
* Manage file review process. Classification: Confidential
* Manage/Oversee Managing Agent Self Reporting to LIC.
* Manage Underwriting breach monitoring and reporting.
* Coordinate, monitor and report on breach remediation.
* Contribute towards LIC's oversight and management of controls, peer review and audits.
* Provide input where required on all audits and carrier reviews.
* Contribute towards the compliant entry of new entrants to the LIC platform.
* Contribute towards Corporation-wide initiatives where required.
* Building excellent working relationships with supporting insurers.
* Timely completion of required administrative processes.
* Meeting any agreed service standards for processing risks and ensuring that records are accurate.
* Contribute towards the performance management process for seconded underwriters
* Work with the Head of Underwriting to ensure that appropriate underwriting talent is in place to achieve strategic targets.
* Ensure synergies wherever possible with Corporation
You will need to have had previous experience within a syndicate or insurer, in an Underwriting, Governance, Audit or Compliance capacity, have the collaborative relationship and stakeholder engagement skills to motivate and lead the team of secondees and demonstrate a combination of the following skills:
* Coach and develop team members to achieve their potential and deliver a strong performance.
* Build and maintain professional and productive relationships internally and externally with key decision-makers, ensuring decisions are made and communicated in a timely, transparent and well-articulated manner.
* Make strategic, commercial and customer focused decisions.
* Influence and negotiate using an appropriate style for the situation, collaborate effectively and build consensus.
* Gather insights that help to drive the Corporation's understanding of and response to issues and opportunities.
* Provide pragmatic, risk-based solutions, taking the needs of a variety of stakeholders into account.
