Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative nurse with a passion for sexual health to join our integrated team providing sexual health, HIV and contraception care to male and female clients.
The post holder will be required to work daytime and evenings across sites in the central area.
Applicants should:
* Have at least sufficient experience working in sexual health or a related service
* Be highly motivated and able to show initiative
* Have good communication and interpersonal skills
* Have experience and knowledge of safeguarding practice and procedures
* Have a professional interest and desire to work in the speciality
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties
The post holder will be required to provide high quality sexual health and contraception service to all clients accessing the sexual health clinics, to influence the development of the nurse’s role within the integrated sexual health service. There may be a requirement to support and deliver the referral of medical termination service if required.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Registered Nurse
* Evidence of CPD
* Recognised Contraception Training / Sexual Health qualification
* Advanced level of knowledge of contraception/sexual health/ HIV specialist area
* Must be able to disseminate information in both written and oral format
* Experience of health advising and Partner notification
* Advanced clinical practitioner
* Able to work independently and autonomously
* High level of self‑motivation with the ability to work as an independent practitioner
* Excellent communicator at all levels; competencies in use of PGD’s to provide contraception and STI treatments
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Proficient in Implant fitting and removal
* Awareness and knowledge of own professional accountability and autonomous practice
* Will accommodate future 7‑day working along with any potential future service extension
* Willing to work across all BCUHB sites
Desirable criteria
* Degree or equivalent level of experience
* Teaching and assessing Qualification
* TOP/HIV Qualification
* Management and leadership experience
* Understanding of the role of specialist area within the current health environment and the impact of current government/regional policy developments
* Effective networking with colleagues and at local and national levels
* Capable of promoting a visible, high‑profile approach
* Professional demeanour
