At Turning Point, we are dedicated to supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities across England. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the daily lives of our residents, helping them develop essential living skills. Here, you’ll find the support and opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
Where Will You Be Working?
You will be part of a 24-hour supported living facility, providing care for adults with Learning Disabilities. Our residents may have complex needs, including Autism, health conditions, and physical disabilities. This role is hands-on and requires a compassionate approach.
We focus on creating positive, family-like relationships and offer tailored support to help individuals live as independently as possible. Activities may include shopping, managing budgets, and cooking.
Important: You must be a driver to be considered for this role.
Shift Patterns
Flexibility is key! You will work various shifts, including:
* Morning shifts: 7:00/8:00 am to 2:00/3:00 pm
* Evening shifts: 2:00/3:00 pm to 9:00/10:00 pm
* Sleep-ins or waking nights, including some weekends
Please note that working hours may vary by service.
Your Role and Responsibilities
What Will You Be Doing?
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. Your responsibilities will include:
* Promoting the independence of the individuals we support
* Assisting with daily activities, including personal care and meal support
* PEG feeding and flushing
* Following health professionals' guidance on eating, drinking, behavior, and mobility
* Ensuring safety through positive risk assessments
* Manual handling and hoisting
* Administering medication, including creams and lotions
* Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service monitoring using a digital system

While knowledge of learning disabilities is beneficial, it’s not essential. What truly matters is that you are:
* Passionate, caring, and enthusiastic
* Flexible, patient, and non-judgmental
* A great team player with plenty of energy
* Skilled in communication
* Physically capable of manual handling when needed
* Experienced in helping individuals manage anxiety
