Job Title
Outstanding School requires a Head of Music to run a popular and thriving department. Excellent rate of pay plus TLR.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and promote teaching and learning strategies to maximise pupil progress and exam performance.
* Monitor the progress of all students, ensuring alignment with the school's aspirational targets.
* Ensure appropriate support for students with special educational needs, following their IEP where applicable.
* Take action and log interventions for underachieving pupils, liaising with relevant staff.
* Maintain discipline and good order within the department, supporting staff with indiscipline cases.
* Ensure the highest quality of classroom teaching through observation, coaching, and the dissemination of good practice.
* Encourage staff development and allocate the staff development budget effectively.
* Apply the appraisal policy to all staff members in a timely fashion.
* Ensure continuity of learning during absences of the normal subject teacher.
* Foster teamwork and a positive atmosphere within the faculty.
* Deploy support staff effectively within their job description where applicable.
* Set a positive personal example through professionalism.
* Develop a Departmental Improvement Plan aligned with the School Improvement Plan and implement it.
* Attend faculty/departmental meetings, establish clear agendas focused on teaching and learning, and record outcomes.
* Maintain and develop a departmental handbook containing schemes of work and policies.
Qualifications and Experience
Full‑time, permanent position. Required to teach Key Stage 3: 4 Music. Opportunities for development pathways include promotion to SLT after a successful period as Head of Music.
