The Safeguarding Families Together team (SFT) is looking for a PWP to join the North Dorset & PED teams on a fixed-term/secondment opportunity until 31st March 2026.
The SFT Families Together team aims to keep high-risk children and families in Dorset safely together, improve health and educational outcomes for children, and reduce harm in families. You will work with social care practitioners and adult specialists to support parents dealing with domestic abuse, mental health issues, and substance misuse. Regular attendance at group supervision and your own personal supervision will support families in an MDT approach.
You will receive training in motivational interviewing and your PWP core skills. This key technique empowers and engages parents to make positive changes for their wellbeing.
Requirements: You must hold a PWP qualification to apply. This is a fixed-term role; for NHS service current employees, it will be offered as a secondment only. Please obtain permission before applying. Applications requiring current Healthcare worker sponsorship are ineligible.
The SFT teams include specialists working alongside social workers and child and family workers. As a PWP, your responsibilities include:
* Engaging with parents open to the SFT team.
* Conducting PWP assessments.
* Utilising Step GSH step 2 techniques where appropriate.
* Attending group-based MDT supervision in addition to your own supervision.
The model delivers intervention and support, allowing social workers and adult professionals to focus on their roles. Professionals from different disciplines work closely together, reducing referral times and sharing responsibilities to mitigate risks. All team members participate in supervision and contribute to decision-making.
Employment requires an Enhanced DBS check, which the Trust covers. Applicants on the DBS update service can present a valid certificate instead of a new check.
