We are seeking an experienced waterbodies specialist to join our Countryside service as the council’s lead expert on the management and inspection of our waterbody assets.
We maintain a number of rivers, canals and other waterbodies across Derbyshire many in heritage and conservation sites such as. These sites are really valued by our community and visitors as important parts of the Derbyshire landscape .
This new role is critical in ensuring they continue to be places people can enjoy safely and are safeguarded for the future and is a fantastic opportunity for someone experienced in asset management who is passionate about the natural environment .
Key aspects of this role also include:
·Providing specialist waterbodies guidance and technical direction working in partnership with internal officers, canal partnerships/trusts, voluntary bodies & community groups
·Leading on the delivery of day-to-day inspection and strategic management of all the Council’s waterbody assets
· Commissioning of works from modelling, commissioning, putting contracts in place, managing consultants, managing budgets, timescales & performance
·Develop, plan and co-ordinate a long-term 5 year scheme of capital improvement schemes and projects

What skills/experience will you need?
·Hold a BSc in Civil Engineering or associated discipline with relevant post qualification experience
·It is a challenging role, requiring commitment and a positive attitude
·You will have a substantial background in the field of waterbody asset management
·You will be a creative team player with excellent IT, communication skills, be well organised and have good attention to detail
