About the Role
Harmony Care Provider Ltd is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker (Grade D) to join our team at Colwill Lodge. You will support adults with learning disabilities and complex needs, ensuring their safety, dignity, independence, and inclusion in both day service and community settings.
You will work as part of a team and at times one-to-one, delivering personal care, supporting daily living activities, and empowering service users to participate in meaningful routines and social activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Support service users with personal care, eating, drinking, and mobility needs.
* Promote independence through daily living skills (meal prep, shopping, managing personal monies).
* Support individuals to access community activities and build relationships.
* Assist with the safe administration of prescribed and emergency medication.
* Use a range of communication methods (signs, symbols, photos, objects of reference).
* Maintain safeguarding standards—report concerns, challenge poor practice, ensure safety.
* Complete daily records, incident reports, diaries, charts, and observations.
* Work collaboratively with families, carers, professionals, and the wider team.
* Support individuals with dignity, respect, sensitivity, and person-centred care.
Essential Requirements
* Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
* Ability to carry out personal care and manual handling tasks.
* Effective communication skills using varied communication methods.
* Basic literacy, numeracy, and IT skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding, dignity, respect, and quality care.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Physically able to operate equipment such as hoists and mobility aids.
Driver-specific requirements:
* Full UK driving licence (if applying for Support Worker/Driver variant).
* Willingness to undertake PCC transport training (if applicable).
Desirable
* NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent.
* Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and Skills for Care Code of Conduct.
* Experience supporting individuals who may present behaviours of concern.
