Seaford College is recruiting for a permanent, full time, Learning Support Teacher to start January 2026. The role involves teaching students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, in our Academic Access and Achievement department.

SpLD (Level 5 and higher), Helen Arkell and teaching qualifications are advantageous together with demonstrable experience of teaching Year 9 and above. This role is specifically aimed at working with students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, ADHD, Autism and Specific Learning Difficulties, across the 11-18 age range.

JOB DESCRIPTION
This job description and Seaford College’s Employment Policies, terms and conditions for Teaching Staff set out the terms upon which you will be employed by The Johnson Trust Limited at Seaford College.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Headmaster and Governing Body
REPORTING TO: Line Manager
PURPOSE: To teach pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties in a way which is effective and supports the College’s aspiration to provide outstanding teaching and learning for its students.

THE LEARNING SUPPORT TEACHER WILL:

* Teach Learning Support lessons on a one-to-one and small group basis.
* Take responsibility for the timetabling of allocated students.
* Liaise and feedback to parents where appropriate regarding day-to-day concerns and report on pupil progress.
* Liaise with class and subject staff, informing them of pupils’ profiles; giving and seeking information when required.
* Be confident in liaising with subject teachers and relevant Heads of Department to ensure competent delivery of Core Support, small group lessons.
* Check pupil progress with class teachers.
* Maintain and update records and databases.
* Be aware of the need of correct exam concessions for internal school exams and liaise with the Head of Learning Support in line with School policy.
* Keep up to date with the SEN law and regulatory compliance and maintain a good understanding of LEA procedures.
* Liaise with appropriate external agencies as required, as well as other teaching staff.
* Keep ‘up to date’ and attend continuing professional development programmes.
* Participate in the College Performance Management System
* Liaise with other professionals, e.g. Speech and Language, where appropriate.

This role, where in conjunction with teaching, will also include teaching responsibilities under the “Subject Teacher Job Description”.

GENERAL MATTERS
To assist in such duties and activities relating to the general administration of the school as the Headmaster and Governing Body shall, from time to time, reasonably require.

The duties and responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present. The post holder is expected to accept any reasonable alterations that may from time to time be necessary.
