Overview
Balfour Beatty VINCI is working with a range of organisations to design and build a 90‑km stretch of HS2 in the West Midlands – Britain's new high‑speed railway. The project enables trains to travel between London and Birmingham and beyond to Manchester, involving bridges, tunnels, viaducts and other infrastructure. You will join a team of 9,000 across 72 nationalities working on this high‑profile construction.
Role Responsibilities
* Identify / obtain / ensure compliance of works with Construction Code of Practice and other environmental procedural and legal requirements.
* Working with delivery teams to compile environment consent packs prior to application. Management of consents and consent compliance.
* Development of EMS documentation and systems.
* Develop and maintain the organisation of environmental documentation and other evidence to demonstrate compliance with procedures, policy and other contract or legal requirements.
* Development of environmental works solutions/mitigation and monitoring regimes.
* Roll out of systems to ensure construction methodologies and programme meet Environmental Minimum Requirements and Project procedures/management plans.
* Management of Environmental Opportunities and Risks, updating of register and progressing selected opportunity actions.
* Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure collaborative working relationships.
* Appreciates the financial implications of decisions affecting environmental issues (e.g. waste costs, delays.) and seeks to ensure best financial outcome for business.
Required Experience
* A sound knowledge of environmental legislation and principles of environmental management systems.
* Experience of compiling, applying and compliance of environmental consents.
* Firm grasp of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience of delivering environmental based training.
* Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills.
* High level of computer literacy.
