Pay: £13.31 per hour
Are you a motivated, compassionate individual with a keen interest in occupational therapy? Do you want to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs? If so, we invite you to join our dedicated therapeutic team at our residential children’s home in Newmarket.
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Occupational Therapy Assistant to support the delivery of effective, evidence-based, person-centred interventions within our specialist residential setting. You will work with children and young people with diagnoses including mental health conditions, personality disorders, learning disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorders—many requiring inpatient care and support.
Shift Pattern:
This role operates on a full-day shift basis, from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM, within a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support qualified Occupational Therapists in delivering both 1:1 and group-based therapeutic interventions.
* Assist in assessing and understanding each student’s occupational performance, identity, and rehabilitation needs.
* Promote mental health, independence, and engagement in daily activities through structured interventions.
* Help assess functional skills and sensory needs to inform tailored therapy plans.
* Maintain accurate case records and contribute to multidisciplinary team discussions.
* Implement and review personalised intervention programmes fostering learning, social interaction, and participation.
* Embed therapeutic approaches throughout students’ routines, both at home and in the school environment.
What We’re Looking For:
* A creative, self-motivated individual with strong communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Passion for supporting children and young people with complex needs.
* Interest or background in mental health, occupational therapy, or special education is highly desirable.
* Experience working in residential or care settings is an advantage.
Why Join Us?
You’ll be part of a committed and dynamic therapeutic team, helping young people develop essential life skills and confidence. With regular supervision and ongoing professional development, this role is ideal for those considering a career in occupational therapy or a related field.
Safeguarding Commitment
We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All successful applicants will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check prior to appointment.
