Legal Counsel, VP – Investment Services
Purpose of Role
A senior position within the Investment Services UKMEA legal team, responsible for advising the business on legal matters related to its services and operations.
Role Responsibilities
1. Draft, negotiate and advise on a wide range of service agreements, including custody, fund accounting, investment analytics, and complex middle‑office/data outsourcing arrangements for clients such as asset managers, asset owners, insurers and public institutions.
2. Assess legal and regulatory implications relevant to the business’ activities.
3. Support strategic initiatives, including drafting and negotiating heads of terms for new opportunities.
4. Work with senior legal, business, risk and compliance stakeholders to deliver commercially aligned outcomes under tight deadlines.
5. Contribute to new product development, expansion into new jurisdictions and broader group‑wide legal projects.
6. Collaborate with legal teams across other business lines and regions.
7. Engage, instruct and manage external counsel.
Qualifications
8. Minimum 8 years’ PQE.
Skills & Experience
9. Background in a leading law firm.
10. Strong commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise legal advice.
11. Experience in financial services, commercial contracts/outsourcing and/or M&A.
12. Solution‑driven mindset with the ability to navigate complex issues and multiple stakeholders.
