Position: Associate Structural Engineer
Location: East Sussex
Salary: Up to £65,000
We are working with a long-established Civil & Structural Engineering consultancy, who are looking to appoint an Associate Structural Engineer to join their growing team in the Southeast. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Chartered or near-Chartered Engineer to take on a broader leadership role, working closely with the Director to manage technical delivery, team resources and client relationships.

Job Overview
* Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, design calculations and working drawings.
* Commission and review surveys and investigations as part of project delivery.
* Undertake detailed structural design across all common materials.
* Carry out site inspections, monitor construction progress and provide technical input.
* Manage and coordinate the work of contractors, consultants and specialists.
* Regularly meet with the team to allocate workload, review resourcing and resolve issues.
* Prepare and maintain internal programmes of work to support wider business resourcing.
* Manage client-facing programmes, monitor variations and ensure delivery within budget and timescales.
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, actively marketing the consultancy's services.
* Ensure compliance with QA procedures, practice notes and industry standards.
* Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship to engineers and technicians.
Job Requirements
* Chartered (CEng) or near-Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE or equivalent).
* Strong technical background in the design and delivery of building structures (steel, concrete, timber, masonry).
* Proven project management skills – comfortable running schemes from feasibility through to handover.
* Confident communicator, able to represent the consultancy with clients, contractors and external stakeholders.
* Experience preparing and monitoring programmes of work, fee proposals and contract variations.
* Ability to mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
* Commercially aware with a business development mindset.
* Awareness of Quality Assurance procedures and industry best practice.
* Full UK driving licence desirable due to site visits.
