Lead Electrical Engineer

Purpose:
Lead engineering workstreams for infrastructure, supporting the planning, oversight, supervision, and assessment of electrical, mechanical, and civil design documentation. Ensure integration with internal and external stakeholders and compliance with design standards in a high-risk environment.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design:
* Lead electrical infrastructure workstreams and multi-discipline integration.
* Author, review, and maintain infrastructure design documentation.
* Review and approve design changes, concessions, and contractor submissions.
* Produce technical justifications for civil/structural modifications.
* Review calculations, technical reports, and safety submissions.
Project & Stakeholder Management:
* Attend design review meetings, hazard identification workshops, and optioneering reviews.
* Manage consultant engineering support and oversee detailed design activities.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
* Present design substantiation to safety committees.
Construction & Commissioning Oversight:
* Provide technical supervision of construction/deconstruction activities.
* Specify and supervise commissioning/decommissioning activities.
* Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and safety requirements.
Safety, Quality & Compliance:
* Comply with Environment, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality policies.
* Support continuous improvement of safety, environmental, and quality practices.
* Contribute to training and development within own area of expertise.
Essential Experience & Skills
* Knowledge of current design standards (British & European).
* Knowledge of High Voltage (HV) over 66kv and Low Voltage (LV) electrical systems.
* Experience across concept, detailed design, and construction stages in electrical engineering projects (industrial/maritime preferred).
* Ability to assess electrical plant and equipment against hazards.
* Experience authoring robust technical justification for high-hazard environments.
* Familiarity with industrial machinery: pumps, generators, HVAC, SCADA, PAVA systems.
* Multi-discipline project experience providing electrical engineering input.
Desirable Experience & Skills
* Experience in high-risk environments.
* Safety case development familiarity (HAZID/HAZOP).
* Knowledge of nuclear or other high-hazard industry regulations and standards.
Qualifications
Essential:
* BEng in STEM or equivalent experience.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or equivalent experience.
Desirable:
* Safety case-related training or experience.
