About the Role:
The Health and Safety Coordinator will assist the SHEQ Manager to oversee and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes to maintain a safe working environment for employees in Blok N Mesh. They will collaborate with management, employees, and regulatory bodies to promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
* Assist to develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programmes specific to Blok N Mesh.
* Ensure that regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance have been completed by the management team.
* Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and near misses, and analyse data to identify trends and develop strategies for improvement.
* Monitor learning management systems including completion rates, creating detailed training reports for key stakeholders.
* Arrange third party training such as first aid, fire marshal and forklift operator training.
* Maintain the company training matrix ensuring that it remains up to date.
* Assist to ensure that training is completed on time by all employees.
* Collaborate with management and employees to identify and resolve health and safety concerns.
* Stay up to date with the latest health, safety and environmental legislation.
* Maintain a register of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
* Assist the management team to investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and collate detailed reports.
* Liaise with customers in a professional manner to ensure they are provided with up-to-date information.
* Maintain effective communication channels with employees and management to promote safety awareness and encourage reporting of hazards.
* Coordinate with external agencies and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
* Participate in safety committee meetings and create detailed notes.
* Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to address specific safety issues and promote continuous improvement.
* Maintain compliance with business-critical accreditations such as Constructionline, SafeContractor and similar systems including SSIPs.
* Assist the SHEQ Manager with maintaining ISO standards (9001 &
Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a health and safety coordinator or similar role.
* Awareness of health and safety regulations and best practices.
* Understanding of risk management principles and the ability to conduct risk assessments.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees and management.
* Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency in using computer software and applications related to health and safety administration.
* Self-motivated and proactive approach to the role.
