Overview

One Programme, Two Years, Three Secondments, Endless Opportunities. The Nuclear Graduates programme provides insight into the breadth of the UK's nuclear sector, contributing to challenges from energy generation to decommissioning. The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority has brought together leading businesses to create the programme. Sponsoring companies for the 2026 cohort include: Rolls-Royce, the Office for Nuclear Regulation, the Atomic Weapons Establishment, the Ministry of Defence - Defence Nuclear Enterprise, Great British Energy - Nuclear, and the Environment Agency.

As a Cyber Security Nuclear Graduate, you will learn how to protect critical infrastructure, systems, and data from cyber threats within the nuclear industry. You will gain experience in the programme through rotations and professional development, while understanding communities in which the nuclear sector works.


Responsibilities

* Risk assessment and threat analysis
* Security architecture and network defence
* Incident response and digital forensics
* Develop and apply practical knowledge in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or Information Security to deliver solutions that fulfil organisational requirements
* Develop technical skills to safeguard digital assets and ensure regulatory compliance
* Assist in designing and implementing secure systems, conducting vulnerability assessments, and supporting cyber resilience projects
* Penetration testing, secure coding practices, regulatory compliance (e.g., NIST, GDPR), and security operations


Qualifications

* Minimum of a 2:2 at Bachelor's level in Cyber Security, Computer Science, or Digital Forensics
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and teamwork abilities
* Proactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging threats


Entry requirements

* A minimum of a 2:2 in a relevant degree subject
* Right to work for the duration of the 2-year programme; offers conditional upon satisfactory right to work checks
* Successful completion of security clearance checks
* Willingness to travel and relocate; Energus head office is in Workington, Cumbria; role locations vary by sponsor


Start date

September 2026


Recruitment stages

* Online application form
* Psychometric assessment (Neurosight)
* Online interview (20-30 minutes with sponsoring organisations)
* Assessment centre (face to face)
* Offer and security paperwork before start
* Onboarding and welcome sessions

Face-to-face assessment centres are in early 2026. We encourage checking emails regularly during the process.
