Accounts & Business Advisory Manager – Nationally Ranked Accountancy Practice, Maidstone (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
A leading accountancy and advisory firm in Maidstone are seeking an experienced Accounts & Business Advisory (ABAS) Manager to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious professional looking to lead client engagements, develop teams, and contribute to the growth of a respected practice.
The Role:
As an ABAS Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing client account preparation, managing teams, and ensuring high-quality, compliant service delivery. You’ll work with a diverse portfolio of clients, handle complex financial matters, and provide valuable advisory insight. You will also play a key role in strengthening client relationships and supporting the development of junior team members.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a leadership position and is eager to drive continuous improvement across accounts and business advisory services.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Client Leadership
* Act as a key point of contact for clients, responding confidently to queries with minimal supervision
* Understand clients’ businesses, objectives, and risks, and brief junior team members accordingly
* Support business development initiatives, proposals, and tenders
Technical Excellence
* Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge, attend seminars, and deliver internal training
* Identify advisory opportunities within and beyond core service areas
* Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal processes
Team Management & Leadership
* Plan team workflow, manage flexible working requirements, and oversee timesheets
* Mentor and empower junior team members through challenging assignments
* Participate in hiring, onboarding, and supporting new staff
Continuous Improvement
* Champion new technologies aimed at boosting efficiency and quality
* Assess and challenge fee levels and job recovery trends
* Suggest innovative solutions and process improvements
Technical Skills You'll Bring
* Leading year-end accounts meetings and providing actionable insights
* Preparing consolidated accounts and identifying consolidation adjustments
* Creating 3-way cashflow forecasts with well-documented assumptions
* Interpreting financial statements and working capital metrics
* Understanding VAT partial exemption, reverse charge entries, and remuneration planning
* Ability to spot anomalies in projections and suggest commercial solutions
Qualifications & Experience:
* ACA/ACCA/CA qualified, or qualified by experience
* Robust background in an accountancy practice, with exposure to accounts and business advisory services
* Strong leadership capabilities and an enthusiastic, proactive approach
Location & Working Pattern:
* This role requires the successful candidate to be based in the Maidstone office with hybrid & flexible working
* Full-time, permanent position (37.5 hours per week)
