Retail Assistant Manager

Department: Trading
Contract: Permanent
Working hours: Part time 15 hours per week
Location: Thame

Role Overview
At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer. We are professionals with purpose, beating cancer every day. We’re looking for a motivated assistant shop manager to join our trading team. You’ll act as an ambassador for CRUK, supporting the shop manager and your team to maximise income through people, resources, and stock.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supporting the shop manager to inspire and engage a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers.
2. Supporting store operations including display, merchandising, stock management, and maintaining standards.
3. Leading by example and providing excellent customer and supporter service.
4. Working with the shop manager to meet targets related to donated stock, sales, and stock processing.
5. Building relationships with the local community and CRUK colleagues.
6. Supporting the organisation of creative fundraising events to meet targets.
7. Ensuring compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, and HR policies.
8. Acting as deputy for the shop manager when needed.
Desired Skills and Experience
1. Understanding of excellent customer service.
2. Experience in a lively, vibrant environment.
3. Adaptability and independence in changing situations.
4. Commercial awareness.
5. Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
6. Supervisory experience and familiarity with retail and fashion are advantageous.
