Overview
This Apprenticeship Programme offers you the chance to earn whilst you learn new skills. You will be provided with the opportunity to achieve a formal City & Guilds Electrical Power Engineering qualification, whilst gaining valuable work experience. This is a three-year programme combining academic study (20%) with work-based experience (80%).
The role involves repairing equipment of the electricity network, replacing equipment as part of a maintenance programme, replacing broken parts, making adjustments, servicing and checking components.
Start date: August 2026. Location options include Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen, and Inverness. Salary: Circa £14,895 per annum with a range of benefits; salary upon completing the Apprentice programme is circa £29,000 per annum. This is a permanent, full-time apprenticeship.
What you will do
You will be supported throughout the programme by mentors, Learning and Talent support staff and business operational colleagues. You will receive on-the-job training and be supported by our academic training partners. Apprentices attend college on a block release basis and can be away from home for short periods; you will be supported fully during this time.
By the end of your apprenticeship, you will have formal qualifications and accreditations that will offer you opportunities to build a rewarding career in the energy sector. We emphasise sustainability and supporting our people to progress within SSE.
